Dedicated financial support for leaders of an ANR JCJC project, available from two years before the end of their project up to one year after, conditional on submission to the next ERC call sessions. Targets early-career researchers holding an active JCJC grant.
MRSEI Token (J-MRSEI) — Pilot Phase for PRCI Projects
Pilot phase instrument allowing the French coordinator of an ANR PRCI project (from two years before end of project until one year after) to request MRSEI-type support, automatically granted under current instrument conditions. Supports European project preparation.

Up to €1.5M (up to €2.5M with additional funding for non-associated third country relocations)
Open to researchers of any nationality, 2–7 years post-PhD (extensions possible for parental leave, illness, etc.). Host institution must be a public or private research organisation in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe associated country. Single PI; any field of research ('bottom-up'). Up to €1.5M standard; up to €1M additional for equipment/facilities; up to €2M additional for PIs relocating from non-associated third countries.
Work with Brazilian researchers – NERC-FAPESP lead agency
UK-based researchers and researchers in the State of São Paulo, Brazil submit collaborative applications under existing NERC funding opportunities via a lead agency agreement with FAPESP. Single review process. UK institution eligibility applies.

NERC seedcorn fund for UK researchers to establish new sustainable international partnerships in environmental sciences. Applicants must demonstrate a new primary international partner bringing expertise not available in the UK. Co-funding options available with FAPESP (Brazil) or NSTC (Taiwan).
Generic Call for Projects (AAPG) 2026 — Young Researchers (JCJC)
Individual research projects carried out by a young researcher. Part of the AAPG 2026, structured into 57 research axes across 7 disciplinary fields and 19 transversal issues. Open to all scientific communities involved in French research.
Generic Call for Projects (AAPG) 2026 — Collaborative Research Project-Enterprise (PRCE)
Collaborative research projects between laboratories or public partners and companies in a national context. Industry partner required. PRCEs have direct access to stage 2 of the AAPG, reducing time to contracting to under six months. ANR aid rate for SMEs increased to 60%.

Comparing and improving biological carbon storage in multiple global models
Enhancing Resilience to Wildfires in the Wildland-Urban Interface
Up to £10M (£8M at 80% FEC); UK component up to £1.58M FEC per project
Interdisciplinary research on wildfire resilience in the wildland-urban interface. UK applicants must be at NERC-eligible research organisations; US applicants via NSF FIRE programme; Canadian applicants via NSERC/SSHRC/CIHR. Each country funds its own researchers. Applications must address at least two of three programme aims, including aim three (interventions/solutions). Norwegian co-leads permitted under UKRI-Norway Money Follows Cooperation agreement.

For researchers 7–12 years post-PhD (defence date 1 Jan 2014 – 31 Dec 2018). Host institution must be in an EU Member State or Associated Country. PI must commit ≥40% working time to project, ≥50% of total time in EU/Associated Country. Single-PI, no consortium required. Excellence is the sole evaluation criterion.

For established, leading PIs with a track record of significant research achievements. Research must be conducted at a host institution in an EU Member State or associated country. Single-PI grant; no consortium required. Open to any field of research on a bottom-up basis. Implemented as a lump sum pilot call. Up to 100% of eligible direct costs plus 25% indirect costs covered.

Projects must address big science questions via multidisciplinary work packages. Joint proposals across multiple organisations permitted; lead institution acts as coordinator. Submitted via Je-S system.
Tremplin ERC — Advanced Grants (T-ERC AdG)
New opening of the Tremplin ERC funding instrument to applicants to the ERC Advanced Grants call. Aimed at lowering barriers for submission of European projects and supporting risk-taking by French research teams. Launched as part of the 2026 Work Programme.
NERC Urgency Funding
Open to UK-resident researchers employed at lecturer level or above at eligible UK research organisations (HEIs, research council institutes, IROs, PSREs). Funds urgent data collection and essential initial analysis following unexpected environmental events only. Equipment >£10k not funded; max one proposal per investigator per two-year period. Proposals must be in English.
