BRIDGE Discovery is a joint funding scheme by SNSF and Innosuisse supporting projects that bridge fundamental research and innovation/application. Open to researchers at Swiss institutions.

First call under the One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (OHAMR) international partnership. Focuses on combating antimicrobial resistance through a One Health approach (human, animal, environmental health). Transnational consortia required.

Collaborative research projects between Swiss and Australian institutions on AI in healthcare for underrepresented populations (sex, gender, sexual orientation). Swiss applicants must be based at a Swiss research institution; SNSF funds the Swiss side (max CHF 400k/project), NHMRC funds the Australian side. Up to 10 projects funded. Proposals must be submitted to both agencies.

Bilateral SNSF–Australia call for research on AI-supported healthcare. Requires collaboration between Swiss and Australian research teams. Clinical/health-data focus likely.

Call for proposals under the BrainHealth Partnership focusing on brain health research. Open to researchers affiliated with Swiss institutions applying through SNSF.

Call under the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study (THCS) or related health cohort scheme focusing on access to care. Supports research addressing healthcare access challenges within the Swiss context.

Bilateral Weave/Lead Agency call between SNSF and F.R.S.-FNRS (Belgium, Wallonia-Brussels). Swiss applicants apply under SNSF project funding; Belgian applicants must be based at one of six eligible universities (UCLouvain, ULB, ULiège, UMons, UNamur, USL-B). Max 2 simultaneous SNSF project grants allowed. Proposals in languages other than English (possible in some humanities/social sciences disciplines) require prior agreement with all agencies.

Postdoctoral mobility fellowship for researchers with Swiss ties (Swiss nationals, C-permit holders, or PhD/state exam at Swiss HEI). Must apply within 3 years of PhD defence (or 8 years post-state exam for MDs). Requires a research stay abroad; return to institution of education not permitted. Part-time (min. 0.8 FTE) allowed for return grant phase with family care duties.

Fellowship for researchers who have recently completed their doctorate, enabling them to spend time doing research abroad. Applicants must be based in Switzerland. Supports deepening knowledge, widening networks, and strengthening academic profiles through a research stay in another country.

Bilateral Swiss–South African collaborative projects under SNSF Project Funding / Weave Lead Agency scheme. South African partner must be affiliated with a recognised public higher education or research institution in South Africa. Proposals must be submitted in English. Max 2 simultaneous SNSF project grants per applicant; topics must be clearly distinct. Projects start on the same date in both countries.

Bilateral Swiss–US research collaboration under the Weave Lead Agency procedure. Swiss applicants must be hosted at Swiss institutions eligible for SNSF project funding; US partners at NSF-eligible institutions. Proposals must be submitted in English, declared as use-inspired, and address broader impact. Project must start on the same date and run for the same duration in both countries (max 48 months).

Collaborative bottom-up research funding for teams from 2–3 European countries embedded in SNSF Project Funding. Swiss applicant submits via SNSF portal; foreign co-applicants submit in parallel to their national funders. Proposals must be in English (exception: Austria and Luxembourg). Max one project funding proposal per 12-month period; max two simultaneous grants. Trilateral projects with France, Israel, São Paulo, South Africa, South Tyrol, or the US are not possible.

Bilateral Weave project funding for Swiss–Croatian research collaborations under SNSF's project funding instrument. Swiss applicant must be hosted at a Swiss institution; Croatian partner applies to HRZZ under its 'Research Projects' scheme. Projects must start on the same date in both countries. Up to 3 simultaneous SNSF grants allowed if topics differ.

Joint bilateral research projects between Switzerland and a partner country (6 Lead Agency agreements). Swiss subproject funded under SNSF Project Funding rules; proposals must be in English. Max 20% of Swiss budget for additional 'project partners'. Applicants limited to one project funding proposal per 12-month period; max two simultaneous project funding grants (one must be Weave/Lead Agency/ICIS).

Bilateral project funding under the Weave/Lead Agency procedure between SNSF (Switzerland) and ARIS (Slovenia). Swiss applicants must be hosted at Swiss research institutions. Max 48 months if SNSF is Lead Agency; 36 months if ARIS is Lead Agency. Applicants may hold max two simultaneous SNSF project grants, one of which must be a Weave/Lead Agency project. Topics of concurrent grants must be clearly distinct.

Swiss-based researchers apply to SNSF for projects with co-investigators in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, or the Netherlands (up to 50% of budget for foreign subproject). Humanities/social sciences projects may include UK subprojects (ESRC/AHRC) capped at 30% of overall budget. Max two concurrent SNSF projects per researcher; one must be Weave/Lead Agency/International Co-Investigator. No thematic overlap with ongoing SNSF projects permitted.

Bilateral project funding under the Weave framework between SNSF (Switzerland) and FWF (Austria). Swiss applicants must be hosted at a Swiss institution; Austrian partner applies under FWF Stand-Alone Projects. Max 2 simultaneous SNSF project grants; topics must be clearly distinct. Non-English submissions possible in some humanities/social sciences disciplines — prior agreement with both agencies required. Projects must start on the same date in both countries.

Bilateral project funding for Swiss researchers (hosted at Swiss institutions) collaborating with Swedish partners. Swedish side must fall within Formas scope: environment, agricultural sciences, and spatial planning. Max 2 simultaneous SNSF project grants; topics must be clearly distinct. Projects start on the same date in both countries.

Supports international collaborative research projects between Swiss researchers and partners in countries with bilateral/multilateral agreements (Weave: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden; Lead Agency: France, Israel, São Paulo, South Africa, South Tyrol, USA; ICIS: Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, UK). Budget limit CHF 250k/applicant/year (max CHF 200k personnel). SNSF Project Funding eligibility requirements apply.

Bilateral Weave collaboration between Swiss and Croatian researchers under SNSF project funding and HRZZ 'Research Projects' scheme. Projects must start on the same date in both countries and run for the same duration (max 48 months). Swiss applicants may hold up to 3 simultaneous grants if one is a Weave/Lead Agency project. Open to all disciplines (SSH, MINT, Life Sciences, Interdisciplinary).

Collaborative bottom-up project funding for researchers from 2–3 European countries via the Lead Agency principle. Proposals must be submitted in English (exceptions for Austria and Luxembourg). Each applicant must meet eligibility criteria of their national funder. Swiss sub-project budget submitted via SNSF portal; aims to fund top 20% of proposals in the relevant evaluation round. Trilateral projects with France, Israel, São Paulo, South Africa, South Tyrol, or the US are not possible.

Part of SNSF project funding (Weave/Lead Agency). Swiss applicants submit to SNSF; Luxembourg partner submits to FNR (CORE programme). Max 2 simultaneous project grants allowed, topics must be distinct. Non-English submissions possible only in certain humanities/social sciences disciplines — must be pre-agreed with both agencies. Projects must start on the same date in both countries.

Bilateral Switzerland–Poland collaborative project funding under the Weave/Lead Agency framework. Swiss applicants apply to SNSF; Polish partners apply to NCN (OPUS or Weave-UNISONO scheme). Applicants may hold max two simultaneous SNSF project grants; topics must be clearly distinct. Budget alignment between EUR (SNSF) and PLN (NCN) submissions is mandatory or proposal is rejected.

Bilateral project funding under the Weave framework between SNSF (Switzerland) and Formas (Sweden). Formas covers environment, agricultural sciences, and spatial planning — Swiss researchers must confirm topic eligibility with Swedish partners. Max 2 simultaneous SNSF project grants; one must be a Weave/Lead Agency/ICS project. Projects must start on the same date in both countries.

Swiss researchers collaborate with German counterparts under the Weave/Lead Agency framework. Proposals must be submitted in English. Applicants may hold max two simultaneous SNSF project grants, one of which must be a Weave/Lead Agency project with clearly distinct topics. Also open for participation in DFG Priority Programmes and Research Units.

Career development grant for early-career researchers seeking to plan, carry out and lead an independent research project at a Swiss research institution. Requires full-time employment (min. 0.8 FTE for family care reasons). Note: Ambizione will be replaced by a new scheme launching in 2028; this is among the final calls.

Grant for researchers taking their first step towards scientific independence, enabling them to carry out, manage and lead an independently planned research project at a Swiss institution. Targets early-career researchers seeking to establish their own research direction.

Lead Agency bilateral project funding between Switzerland (SNSF) and South Tyrol (Province). Submission only to SNSF, once a year by 1 April. Applicants may hold max two simultaneous SNSF project grants; one must be a Weave/Lead Agency project. Topics of concurrent grants must be clearly distinct. Earliest project start: 1 January of the year following submission.

For researchers with PhD awarded >7 and ≤12 years ago (between 1 Jan 2011 and 16 Oct 2016 for 2023 call), demonstrating research independence. Host institution must be in Switzerland; grant is transferable between Swiss institutions. Family allowances may be added above the CHF 1.75M cap.

Supports international research collaborations between Swiss-based researchers and partners in countries with bilateral/multilateral SNSF agreements (Weave: BE, DE, HR, LU, AT, PL, SE, SI, CZ; Lead Agency: FR, IL, BR, ZA, IT-South Tyrol, US; ICIS: DK, NL, NO, SE, UK-SSH). Budget limit CHF 250k/applicant/year (max CHF 200k personnel). Up to 20% of budget may go to project partners outside agreement countries.

International collaboration funding scheme. Researchers who have previously received PRIMA or Eccellenza funding are now eligible to apply. Open to Swiss-based researchers.

Funding opportunities for Swiss researchers to participate in international research consortia across different subject areas and country groups, including European Partnerships and other multilateral initiatives.

Multilateral research and innovation projects involving researchers based in Southeast Asia and Europe on topics of mutual interest to both regions. Requires international consortium spanning both regions.

Joint Research Projects (JRPs) between Swiss and South Korean researchers in quantum computing/simulation, quantum communications and networks, quantum sensing/measurement, fundamentals of quantum information science and technology, and quantum ethics. Swiss applicant must be based at a Swiss institution; Korean partner funded by NRF. ~10 projects funded per call.

Open to researchers at Swiss universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education whose research is directly related to health and wellbeing. Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent (≥3 years research as main income + 4 years additional experience). Applicant salary not eligible. Max one application per submission deadline. Research plan max 15 pages / 60,000 characters.

Open to experienced researchers at Swiss higher education institutions (ETH domain, accredited universities, UAS, UTE, or research facilities of national importance). Proposals must be in English. Home institution must formally support the application and commit to financial/structural co-funding. ~10% of other applicants may be based outside Switzerland. Industrial partners may participate but cannot be applicants.

Postdoctoral fellowship for researchers of any nationality hosted at Swiss institutions. Mobility rule: applicant must not have resided or worked in Switzerland >12 months in the 36 months prior to deadline. Requires PhD; 100% FTE (min 80% for clinical/care duties). Covers salary, social security, and project costs. Double funding with MSCA or other grants for the same project is excluded.

For existing SNSF grantees moving abroad. Allows continuation of an SNSF-funded project either remotely from Switzerland or directly at the new research location abroad. Supplementary to an existing SNSF main grant.

Multidisciplinary applied research with a clear link to space. Applicants must be Swiss academic institutions; industry partners (Swiss or foreign) are consortium partners but cannot receive MARVIS funding. Requires 100% matching funds over project duration; no overhead charged. Proposals submitted via mySNF in English.

Multilateral research projects conducted jointly by researchers in Switzerland and at least 2 of the 5 partner countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Hungary). Each country team funded up to CHF 350,000. Part of the second Swiss contribution to reduce economic and social inequalities in the enlarged EU.

Open to all disciplines. Applicants must hold a doctorate (or equivalent 3+ years research experience) and be employed at an eligible Swiss host institution (per RIPA Articles 4 & 5). Single applicant only; proposals must be submitted in English and fully anonymised. Not compatible with Bridge Proof of Concept, Postdoc.Mobility, or Swiss Postdoctoral Fellowships. No overhead contributions.

Swiss substitute for ERC Advanced Grants for researchers based at Swiss institutions (min. 50% FTE). Single applicant only; PhD required (or 3 years research equivalent). Applicants must have an outstanding track record over the past 10 years. Minimum 30% time commitment to project. Cannot hold a concurrent ERC frontier research grant unless it ends before December 2025.

Funds the Swiss part of international Joint Research Projects between Switzerland and partner countries with high scientific potential (2025–2028 mandate). Swiss applicant must be based at a Swiss university or university of applied sciences. Calls may be limited to specific subject areas relevant to both countries. Similar costs covered as in standard SNSF project funding.
