ZonMw: open calls

For researchers who obtained their PhD within the 8 years preceding 1 October 2026, to establish or expand a research group. Application must be written in English and requires a signed embedding guarantee from the Dutch host institution; part-time research possible.

For researchers awarded a PhD in the 12 months before the deadline (or near-completion with supervisor approval), to gain research experience at a host institute outside the Netherlands for 12-24 months. Applications must be individual, in English, and PhD obtained from a listed NWO-recognized research organization.

For researchers who obtained their PhD in the twelve months before the deadline (or near-completion with supervisor approval), to gain research experience at a foreign research institute. Applications must be individual (not team-based), written in English, and include a host institute acceptance form; covers salary, travel and limited research costs, excluding overhead.
