Promotes broad research collaboration between Norwegian research communities and societal/business actors on seabed mineral activities and environmental consequences. Norwegian research organisations eligible.

Third call of SPP 2520 (2026–2031); funds participation in expeditions on German research vessels (RV MARIA S. MERIAN, METEOR, SONNE, POLARSTERN, ALKOR, HEINCKE, ELISABETH MANN BORGESE) and initial sample/data analysis. Industrial PhD scheme: companies recruit doctoral candidates to conduct R&D within the company. Applicants are Norwegian companies. Covers sectors including ocean, energy, transport, climate, AI. (Industrial PhD — company-based doctoral project 2025)

Tri-jurisdictional R&D collaboration between US, Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland researchers. Thematic areas: Sensors & Sensor Networks, Nanoscale Science & Engineering, Telecommunications, Energy & Sustainability, Cybersecurity, Health, and Agriculture. Applicants must be mid-stage or senior career researchers. Each jurisdiction funds its own element; proposals submitted to NSF or NIH by the US partner.

For senior postdocs, senior researchers, assistant professors, or newly employed associate professors aiming to establish or strengthen an independent research group at a university or non-profit research institution in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden. Scope: industrial or environmental biotechnology (excluding plant science/agriculture/food and pharma/therapeutics). Proposals must include a clear biotechnology element per OECD definition.

Apply for funding to deliver a doctoral focal award in environmental evidence synthesis. Applications should be led by organisations eligible for UKRI funding.

Advise on how net zero transition affects places and communities using multidisciplinary evidence. Disciplines: social sciences, behavioural science, geography, environmental science.

Supports innovative research in agriculture, food, industrial/environmental biotech, carbon capture, nitrous oxide/methane emissions, and quantum technologies with clear commercialisation outlook. Main applicant must be a senior faculty member or researcher at a Nordic research institution or hospital/clinic, with a proven innovation track record (patents, spinouts). Grant is pre-CVR; companies are ineligible.

For UK-based researchers (lecturer level or above at eligible UK research organisations) needing urgent data collection following an unexpected environmental event. Funds urgent data collection and essential initial analysis only; equipment >£10k not eligible. Applicants must have a strategy for taking research forward after the urgent phase. No more than one proposal per investigator in a two-year period.

Invite-only NetworkPlus to bring together engineering, environmental, and social science researchers with industry and community stakeholders to address property flood resilience (PFR) adoption in the UK. EPSRC standard eligibility applies; international researchers may only participate as project co-lead (international) under UKRI-RCN Money Follows Cooperation. Minimum 10% partner leverage required. Equipment over £25k not funded.

Open to approved Norwegian research organisations as lead applicant. Proposals must be in English. Requires at least 2 user partners (non-R&D sector actors). Scope: societal security and emergency preparedness in/for Norway, Norwegian sea areas and polar regions — covering risk management, crisis response, energy security, food security, climate resilience, Arctic/Antarctic governance, civil preparedness, and organised crime. No support for experimental development or commercialisation.

Main applicant must be an independent tenured/tenure-track researcher employed ≥75% at a European (EU, Schengen Area, or UK) university, hospital, or non-profit research organisation; at least one applicant must be ≥75% employed at a Danish institution. Co-applicants may be global. Industry partners may collaborate but cannot receive funding. Fundamental interdisciplinary research (TRL 1–3) on biological drivers of soil health; no implementation science or translational activities.

Research on future competence, education and working life, including what promotes learning, skills development, participation and inclusion, and how the education system and labour market contribute to social and economic sustainability. Norwegian institutions eligible.

Main applicant or at least one co-applicant must be a data science/computational science researcher employed at a Danish university or institution during the project period. Supports data science methods development and/or applications in life science, biomedical/health science, sustainability, agriculture, and related NNF focus areas. Projects focused on finance, surveillance, defence, gaming, or cybersecurity are out of scope.

Promotes research-based innovation in environmentally friendly energy, petroleum, maritime and transport sectors. Open to companies and public sector entities that are not research organisations.

NERC seedcorn fund for UK researchers to establish new sustainable international partnerships in environmental sciences. Applicants must demonstrate a new primary international partner bringing expertise not available in the UK. Co-funding options available with FAPESP (Brazil) or NSTC (Taiwan).
