Supports outstanding early-career postdoctoral scientists seeking dual expertise in immunology and data science at the intersection of cancer immunology and bioinformatics/computational methods.

Postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, max 8 years full-time research experience post-PhD at deadline. Mobility rule applies: researcher must not have resided/worked in the host country for >12 months in the 3 years before deadline. Full-time commitment required. Branco Weiss Fellowship (Society in Science, administered by ETH Zurich) funds postdocs (PhD ≤5y, before first faculty post) pursuing independent, interdisciplinary research at any host institution worldwide. Not host-country-restricted.

Supports internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers. International mobility is a key requirement (applicant must move to a new host lab/country). Includes salary/stipend, relocation allowance, and childcare support. Awardees gain access to EMBO Laboratory Leadership course and global EMBO Fellows network. Applicants must be based at or returning to an Austrian institution. Clinical trials eligible only if hypothesis-based.

Lead applicant must be UK-based; at least one co-applicant must be outside the UK (mainland China ineligible). All applicants require permanent/long-term contracts. High-income country organisations must demonstrate significant additional resource commitment. Salary recovery from grant funding permitted with ≥10% time commitment.

Funds research into causal mechanisms underpinning active ingredients of early interventions for anxiety, depression and/or psychosis. Lead applicant must contribute ≥20% research time; co-applicants ≥10%. Host institution must be supportive. Lived experience involvement required. Overheads capped at 20% of direct costs; UK universities cannot claim overheads.
